Project Updates
White Bear Lake - 5/25/10
On week three of the build, the Roof Raisers volunteer group has been busy framing all sides of the home. The next step for the crew is to put shingles on the roof, once heating and plumbing holes have been cut on the inside. Site supervisor Floyd Hanson is excited with the progress of the build, despite the heated temperatures they’ve been experiencing. Floyd said, “I sure hope it cools down a bit before we have a bunch people up on the roof.”
Jordan - 5/25/10
The build site in Jordan is a month into construction, and this week high school students are outside adding siding. The majority of the framing is done in the home, and the roof has been finished. Groups in the last couple of weeks worked on building trusses and shingling the roof. AmeriCorps member Bekah says that they hope to finish with the siding this week and continue onto more interior tasks in the next two weeks.
Jordan - 6/15/10
Now at week six, the build in Jordan continues to be on schedule. Volunteers from Mary Mother of the Church are finishing the siding on the front of the house. Paint is also starting to go up around the outside of the home, with the first coat and trim near completion. On the inside, volunteers have also begun insulation, and site supervisor David Michaelson says that they are now ready to begin installing sheetrock.
White Bear Lake - 6/15/10
On The middle of week 5 out at White Bear Lake has consisted of applying sheetrock to the inside of the home and siding the exterior. The St Croix Valley Coalition volunteer group was able to finish sheetrocking all the ceilings and hopes to wrap ups the walls by the end of the week. Once the siding is complete the next big task is to paint the exterior of the home.
